Our History

Swansea Vikings are a Gay & Inclusive rugby team, based at Swansea Uplands R.F.C. in Upper Killay, Swansea.

Founded on the 9th May 2015. 

Our mission is to provide a safe and friendly environment for people of all genders and sexualities to come together to enjoy rugby football.

We aim to promote equality and diversity in particular the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or identification and to promote good health through the playing of rugby football.

by: 

providing opportunities for members of the Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (GBT) community to compete in rugby through tolerant and accepting clubs and teams, both primarily gay and inclusive and GBT-friendly and by eliminating homophobia in rugby through community outreach, competitive play and tournament events that stand for tolerance and acceptance in sports.

The Vikings are affiliated with:

                (1)          The Welsh Rugby Union

                (2)          Swansea Uplands Rugby Football Club

                (3)          The Vikings are also full members of the IGR

                IGR is International Gay Rugby (Association and Board) – an organisation of member clubs of   primarily gay and inclusive rugby clubs. They are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered in England and Wales with their registered office at 71 Holland Road, West Ham,  London, E15 3BP, England, United Kingdom (Charity Number – 1154241)
